How to write for cartoon series?

ANIMATION

1/ Cartoon music is the art of stop and go

2/ It is also very much based on energy

3/ If you respect those two parameters: “stop and go” and “energy”…

4/ …then you can use any style of music, really.

5/ Find the logic in the music illustration.

6/ I like to categorize with:
themes, action, fill ups, reactions, characters, etc.

7/ Some series require a lot of categories, others don’t.

8/ Always have in mind what the sound design is going to be.

9/ If the director wants “in the style of”, you have to submerge yourself into it.

10/ Have fun, be spontaneous, it will show!
