Hélène Grimaud was the source of inspiration for “Helena and the orchestra of the world of mist”. I was fascinated by this multiple personality of being both a musician and an environment advocate.  I was also very impressed by her first novel: “Variations Sauvages”.

Hélène Grimaud, the charismatic French pianist, performed Beethovens “Choral Fantasy in c minor” at the Last Night of the Proms. She joins BBC’s Jane Garvey to talk about her passion for playing, her rise to classical music stardom, her forthcoming Bach album, and how she sees sounds as colours.

She also explains the relationship between her music and her interest in the lives of wolves – and how she’s helping to protect them.
